Academics
The academic program at WSG is designed to allow each student to thrive. With small class sizes and an integrated curriculum that enhances literacy in all subjects, students receive a rich educational experience. Hands-on learning, individualized attention, and close-knit advisory program ensure that each student gets the support she needs to meet the high standards of WSG teachers.
Mathematics
At WSG, we believe that every student can learn mathematics. It is our goal to develop fun, engaging, and interactive lessons while maintaining a learning environment of mutual respect, free of criticism and fear. Students learn practical applications of concepts through fun projects like the Entrepreneurship Project, where students plan for and launch a small business such as a temporary restaurant or shop.
Health and PE
The Health and PE program’s goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle and increase students’ understanding of their physical and mental health. Each lesson uses interactive, age-appropriate and innovative strategies to build critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and communication skills. The curriculum promotes health literacy and seeks to increase motivation to be physically active by teaching students the basics of numerous recreational sports.
Reading and Language Arts
The Reading and Language Arts Program is both multi-faceted and unique. Our main purpose is to develop strong, confident readers who read for pleasure and academic success. Further, we aim to develop writers who are competent and thoughtful as they move through their middle school years so that they are prepared for the rigorous writing required in high school, college and beyond.
WSG has a Reading Specialist who works with 3rd-5th grade students who read below grade level.
