Remembering Joseph Lynn Kitchen, Jr.

Our school community is devastated by the loss of Joseph Kitchen.  Mr. Kitchen has been a committed and tireless employee at WSG since 2011.  He served in many roles at our school, from teacher and administrator, most recently as leader of the Extended Day program and Director of Volunteers. We were particularly excited to have him teach social studies and social justice this upcoming school year, as his passion in the classroom was inspiring.  In each of his roles and in everything he did at WSG, Joseph’s commitment to uplifting and supporting our students were evident.  From big projects such as taking students to a TED education conference in NYC to the smaller daily operations of school and ensuring students’ daily experiences were meaningful, Joseph was a fierce advocate for our girls.

Our community is grieving and we join in prayer with his family and so many others in the community touched by his work and commitment to them.  We know that his legacy lives on at WSG through the many ways he contributed to our school and all of the many students whose lives he positively impacted.
