Two WSG students, Extended Day Coordinator Joseph Kitchen, and Campus Administrator Brianne Wetzel will travel to Denver to participate in the 24th Annual National Service Learning Conference in Denver, Colorado March 13-16. The comes as a result of WSG's continuing partnership with the Maret School in Woodley Park, which brings students from each school together monthly as they share Service Learning experiences at So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E). A program that initially "built bridges across the river" will now allow students from both WMSG and Maret School to meet other young leaders from schools across the nation.
Due to the unique nature of this collaborative project with S.O.M.E, WSG and Maret School were invited to present a workshop, titled "A Capital Collaboration" which will be designed with school administrators and program leaders in mind. Students and school leaders from both schools have been preparing for the workshop via Skype meetings on a weekly basis, and are eager to share their valuable experiences with others. In addition to their presentation, WSG and Maret attendees will hear from speakers, participate in workshops, and will take part in a day of service as part of the conference.
